FAQS ABOUT GEORGIA MASSAGE THERAPY LICENSE RENEWAL:
When is the deadline to renew your Georgia Massage License? The last day to renew your license for the current licensing period is October 31, 2027 at midnight. (Yes, you can take a CE class up until and on October 31, 2027 and still have it reported on time for renewal.)
How do I renew my Georgia License? Go to the State of Georgia’s “Access Renewal Portal.” Login using credentials provided by the State of Georgia. (You may need to “recover” your username and password from this site if you don’t have it.) A CE Provider cannot renew your license for you. You must renew your license yourself. We report your hours to CE Broker based on the massage license number you provide. We will contact you if it is not correct.
What CE hours do I need to renew? This will vary slightly based on how long you have been a massage therapist (is this your first renewal?) and the status of your license (is it active or inactive.) Most therapists will need the following hours:
- 24 total hours of massage continuing education
- 12 hours must be classroom hours focused on Massage Techniques, Skills and Protocols under direct hands-on supervised instruction and
- An additional 12 hours may include either classroom hours under direct hands-on supervision OR other massage therapy related CE hours.
- CE Providers must be approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB.)
Do I need to report my hours to CE Broker? For Georgia approved classes, your CE provider should be reporting your hours for you. (We report to CE Broker based on the license number you provide. We do our due diligence to look it up if a license number is not provided. If you have an address outside of Georgia but still maintain a Georiga license and have taken classes with us, please contact our Student Services Department.
Please contact CE Broker directly if you are in doubt as to whether your hours have been reported. It is not necessary to pay for this service. As we get closer to renewal they will get busy. You may wish to try the chat feature on their page.
What happens if I miss the renewal? It is not an ideal situation, but it happens sometimes. You can check out website for CE classes that fulfill your requirements or call our Student Services Department for assistance. Be sure to contact the Georgia Board of Massage BEFORE your license expires to request an “inactive” status. Reinstatement of a revoked or lapsed license is within the discretion of the board. Reach out to the State of Georgia Board of Massage directly for assistance. It is illegal to practice massage therapy in the State of Georiga without a valid license.
Many questions about license renewal should be addressed directly to the Georiga Board of Massage. Click here for contact details or Read the Rules and Regulations for Geogia Massage Therapists.
