Iguana Lodge - Costa Rica - May 2018

Get your Continuing Education While on Vacation at the Iguana Lodge in Costa Rica

Perhaps you have already had the luxury of taking classes with us at the internationally acclaimed Pura Vida Spa nestled in the mountains of Costa Rica or maybe you are already going to Pura Vida but you want just a little bit more time to enjoy other areas of Costa Rica. You may take this trip as an add-on to the April-May 2018  Pura Vida Adventure Learning Series or on it's own.

If you are ready to take an education vacation/eco-adventure at a fabulous jungle beach resort, then come with us to Iguana Lodge. This is the place to be!

The Facility

You really are in a private, secluded tropical paradise, directly on the beach. This is the eco-tourist's ideal and a surfer's dream. The accommodations at Iguana Lodge are simple yet elegant. You can awaken to an ocean sunrise and fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. There are also several dining options that will satisfy even the most devout foodie.

Select Your Curriculum Path

The Iguana Lodge is a relatively small facility. As such, we must limit the class sizes and course selections. For this adventure, the following classes will be offered:

  • Advanced Medical Massage - The material covered in this class is perfect for the Medical Massage Practitioner looking to take their practice to the next level. You will learn about muscle testing, advanced techniques to help your patients and how to build and sustain a successful medical massage practice. If you are serious about building your Medical Massage practice, then this is the class for you!

  • Thai on the Table -  Thai for the Table is a perfect complement to any practice. It is extremely beneficial to athletes, the eldery and people who prefer to receive massage on a table. This is an ideal therapy for the massage therapist who loves Thai but prefers not to work on the floor. Many of the aspects taught in this comprehensive class can be added into your regular routine.

Extracurricular Activities & Excursions

We know that all work and no play is no fun. Don't worry. In addition to some truly excellent educational opportunities, we have built plenty of free time into your schedule.

Check out Iguana Aventures to find out about all of the activities Iguana Lodge has in store for you. Do you want to take it easy and decompress? Then relax in a special hammock and read a good book or do some yoga at the most amazing outdoor studio you have ever seen. (This is also where we hold some of our classes.) There are opportunities to do watersports such as kayaking, surfing and snorkeling. Do you like to live on the edge? How about a tree climbing adventure or waterfall rappelling or a zip line? You can go birding, visit a botanical garden or a wildlife sanctuary. And of course you will want to do a little salsa dancing, check out a cooking class and don't miss the chocolate tour!

There are areas that are perfect for socializing and making connections with the new friends you have met in class. Make sure to wander over to the "Tricked Out Jungle Spa" and indulge in a spa service or two. You work hard, you deserve to treat yourself.

How long do you plan on staying in Costa Rica?

  • Extension to Pura Vida trip- This is the ultimate option. You first join us for our adventure learning series at our Pura Vida mountain retreat in April-May 2018. Then, instead of heading home, you extend your education vacation and meet us at the Iguana Lodge where you can literally wake up and walk to the beach or enjoy a variety of other excursions wrapped aroud your classes. This is a five-day, four-night trip available only to registrants in the April 2018 Pura Vida trip.

  • Stand Alone Trip to Iguana Lodge (Deluxe Session) - This seven-day, six-night trip is intended for students who are not enrolled in the Pura Vida trip and who want a little bit more down time to enjoy life. All students will have the same classroom time. This option allows you more free time to explore this amazing location.

  • Stand Alone Trip to Iguana Lodge (Shorter Session) - This is a five-day, four-night program that follows the schedule of the Extension program detailed above, but is intended for students who are not first taking classes at Pura Vida.

How do I get there?

When traveling to Iguana Lodge, you should first fly into San Jose Airport (airport code: SJO). From the San Jose Airport you will need to catch a transfer flight to Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica on Sansa Airlines out of the San Jose Airport or take a taxi to the Pavas Airport, also in San Jose, and travel on  Nature Air to Puerto Jimenez. The flight is an amazing sight-seeing flight, an excursion in itself, for a quick 50-minute trip to the coast. Of course, you may also rent a car and take your choice of scenic sight-seeing routes for an 8-10 hour trip through the mountains.
